Ending on a High!

The U10A netball team ended their season on a high, finishing 4th/18 schools at the PGS Netball Tournament last week. The tournament was run as a round robin and the girls played nine competitive matches at the group stage. The aim of the day was to take one match at a time and focus on only that, not worrying about anything else - just do the simple things well, play hard and have fun.

They won the first match convincingly 7-0, but were soon challenged by the subsequent tournament winners, Sherborne House, and lost that game 2-4. However, the girls did not let it shake them and as the afternoon progressed they got stronger and stronger, winning against competitive teams such as Westbourne House, Hoe Bridge and Guildford High School.

By the end of the afternoon we were 2nd in our group (/10) and went on to play St Gabriel's in the 3rd/4th play off. This was the tightest game we had played all day, as a final should be, and due to a combination of nerves and excitement, the accuracy in both teams' play dipped resulting in the match going to extra time! In the final 30 seconds St Gabriel's scored securing 3rd place and we came away with 4th.

The girls have worked so hard this term, but at times their results have not fairly reflected the vast improvements they have made. However, last Wednesday it all came together just at the right time and they thoroughly deserve this success.  They are a great team and and it has been a real pleasure to work with all of them this season.
