Pre-Prep Recital

An impressive 35 out of the 69 children in Years 1 and 2 learn a musical instrument at Farleigh, what better way to showcase the emerging talent of Farleigh’s youngest instrumentalists than at the Pre Prep Instrument Recital held on Friday morning just before the school broke up for half term.

Having rehearsed their announcements and bowing the previous day, the children were ready to treat their audience to a wonderful selection of music including polished performances by guitarists, drummers, a double bass player as well as a healthy number of violinists and pianists.

The Pre Prep also boasts its own string ensemble, Fiddlesticks, complete with the double bass player, as well as a recorder group who will be defending their title as winners of their category in the Southampton Music Festival later this month. Both groups demonstrated great musicality and listening skills as they made their debuts to the appreciation of the supporting crowd.

The smiles of delight on the children were evident throughout, which is what making music is all about.
