Sports Day Storms and Cakes Galore

In true Farleigh spirit, Sports Day went ahead despite threatening skies. First thing on Saturday morning, parents set up gazebos and the children met with staff in the Theatre to be briefed in their Houses about the ethos of the day. The emphasis is on teamwork, taking part and stepping up to every event even if it's not your forte. The children are good listeners, so jumping, throwing, running and the ever popular Tug of War were undertaken with grit and determination. Sadly, when the third torrential rain shower struck (this time with a forecast for lightning), it was time to call it a day.

We are so grateful to the many parents and staff who donated cakes and biscuits to the Cake Stall and also to the many who simply gave so generously to the cause, which enabled us to raise £1,610 for The Alex Lewis Trust. As a former pupil of the school, it was wonderful to welcome Alex back and hear his fond memories of Farleigh and how he is coping since his illness in 2013 which resulted in a quadruple amputation. His rehabilitation continues and he is now working towards a 300m kayaking expedition to Greenland, something never attempted before by a quadruple amputee. We will be staying in touch with him!
