Summer Sports Begin

What a great start to the summer term! The glorious weather provided the perfect afternoon for athletics training last Thursday, where the long jump, 100m, 200m, javelin and ball throwing were just some of the events on offer.

Since then, the boys have been enthusiastically practising their cricket skills, whilst the girls (Years 3-7) are enjoying the addition of cricket to their summer programme. They are beginning to understand the challenge of bowling and relish the thrill of hearing the sound of a good ‘thwack’ on the bat! Year 8 girls are playing tennis alongside rounders and the Year 7 girls play both tennis and cricket.

A team of U10 boys played their first festival of the season at Canford yesterday which was great fun. Mr Ellison said, "their matches against Chafyn Grove, Sandroyd, Port Regis and Forres Sandle Manor gave us an early season opportunity to iron out a few wobbles and showed that the season ahead could be a good one as long as we keep it simple."

Pre-Prep have also been enjoying their sports in the sunshine and Mr Wright has been spotted putting the Year 1s through their paces.
