Sunny Skiing and 'Snoocing'

During the first week of the Easter holidays, 26 children from Years 7 and 8 headed off to the slopes of Serre Chevalier for a week of fun, sun and skiing. They arrived to heavy snow and woke up to a beautiful winter wonderland with over 30cm of fresh powder - what a fabulous start!

The children were split into four groups and skied from 9.00am-3.00pm every day. They all came on in leaps and bounds (some more literally than others) and the difference in their skiing after only a couple of days was impressive, with one beginner group successfully negotiating a black run by the end of the week. Wall to wall sunshine meant great skiing conditions in the morning and whilst the snow could be a little slushy in the afternoon lower down the slope, at the top of the mountain it was fantastic all day.

After a hard day skiing, everyone headed back to the hotel for cake before afternoon activities, which included bowling, sledging, snowball fights and 'snoocing' (the latter, a blend of ski mountaineering and sledging). The ski trip always brings the children together; old friendships are reinforced and new friendships made, irrespective of which year they are in or whether they are boys or girls.

Serre Chevalier is a great resort with lots of ski terrain; it's never too busy and the children love the opportunity to spend time skiing with their friends. We are already looking forward to 2018!
