A Day in the Life of the Pre-Prep

Pre-Prep Assembly began with a fascinating talk by Jo from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. Role play and lots of interaction meant all the children understood the important work of the Air Ambulance team and were left in no doubt about when to call 999 in an emergency.

Year 1 then went off to their Space Headquarters, transformed into Space Cadets, then marched into the Pre-Prep Hall to await instructions from Supreme Commander Hillman about their mission that day. They were delighted to learn they were going to be baking some inter-galactic rock cakes and designing a menu for Café Zog! A sprinkling of space dust and alien slime combined to make what looked like tasty cakes and some very inventive dishes were created for the café which, fortunately, will not be appearing on the Farleigh menu any time soon!

Year 2 enjoyed a frosty maths session in the woods, which included hot chocolate and a chance to run around and enjoy the winter sunshine. Working in pairs, the children collected twigs, leaves and branches which were used to create two dimensional shapes. In the afternoon, Year 1 were joined by pupils in Year 6 who read to them in the Pre-Prep Library before setting off to their French lesson where they practised their colours and feelings very animatedly. Choir practice for Years1 and 2 rounded off a typically busy day for our younger pupils.
