Look What Year 6 Get Up To En France!

From the moment they set sail on the ferry from Portsmouth the 62 Year 6 pupils were ready to unleash their enthusiasm for all things French.

Arriving at the amazing L'Hôtel de Diane in the pretty seaside resort of Les Sables d'Or, the children responded positively to every challenge they faced. They embraced the fabulous places they visited, the wonderful food served at the hotel - clean plates at every mealtime were testament to the fantastic chef, not to mention the typically French meal at L'Assiette Normande, Bayeux, that was appreciated by all on our last night in France.

The childen took every opportunity to practise their French language skills, whether it be: choosing breakfast; buying a stamp; or sourcing ingredients from the local market for their French picnic display, which was enjoyed by the local yacht club, looking out across the emerald sea to the corsair city of St Malo.

Visiting Le Mont St Michel and appreciating the views from the top of the Abbey, was a chance to reflect; as was the visit to the D-Day Landings where history lessons were brought to life, creating thought-provoking moments for everyone. On the Sunday, Fr Simon celebrated Mass in the Crypt of the Basilica in Lisieux, a very special way to finish a wonderful trip.

As always, activities like crazy golf, swimming in the Olympic swimming pool and the highly competitive sandcastle competition remained firm favourites; and once again Year 6 surpassed all expectations with an amazing array of French 'chic' at the Annual Hat Competition.

Wall-to-wall blue sky ensured this trip was a vintage year and the behaviour of the children was exemplary; they were fantastic ambassadors for not only the school, but also for their country. Thank you Year 6 for making France 2017 such a special year.
