Pudding on the Style

What a fabulous start to our first ever Great Farleigh Bake Off. Sixty-five pupils from Year 3 to Year 7 baked something for the competition and the standard was impressive. Mr Reeves, Director of Music, who incorporated the event into Farleigh's inaugural Arts Week, commented, "There were some outstanding entries, with ingenious presentation too. Having had a fairly disturbed night on Sunday - panicking that no one would remember to bake anything - imagine my delight when I saw the number of baked goods brought into the dining room over the course of the week!"

Each entry was scored out of a total of 30 with 10 marks in each area: Presentation, Taste and Quality of Bake. Unfortunately, we cannot take everyone through to the semi-finals, but the tasting panel headed by Aaron Thompson, our Executive Chef Manager, was unanimous in choosing those children lucky enough to progress to the ‘live’ semis next week.

The children will bring the ingredients for their next bake on the allocated day. As with the first round, they are free to bake anything they like, savoury or sweet, but it should not be a repeat of their first bake. They will have approximately two hours to complete their bakes. The emphasis is very much on enjoying the art of baking, however. One from each year will then be selected to bake again on Thursday morning to see who will be crowned Farleigh Bake Off Champion 2018.

Congratulations to the semi-finalists from Years 3 & 4: Hugo, Amber, Desirée, Isabella, Sophie and Orlando will bake off on Monday 18th June, 11.00am-1.00pm

From Years 5 & 6: Clemmie B, Clemmie D, Marina, Atalanta, Caroline and Isla will bake again on Tuesday 19th June, 11.00am-1.00pm

From Year 7: George, Tabitha and Kitty will bake again on Wednesday 20th June, 11.00am-1.00pm

Congratulations to everyone who took part; you did very well and the judging was tough!
