Science Department Accolade

Farleigh School has been awarded the Primary Science Quality Mark GILT Award, a significant achievement that reflects the excellent science teaching and learning that is happening at Farleigh. “Gaining a Primary Science Quality Award is a significant achievement for a school. The profile and quality of science teaching and learning in each awarded school is very high” says Jane Turner, PSQM National Director.

Ms Angela Reynard Pearce, our former Head of Science, and Mrs Sue Wilton, KS2 Teacher, Exam Officer and Assessment Co-ordinator, put together a substantial file of evidence and photographic proof to show every aspect of the Science Department. This included children's learning, teachers’ planning, how lessons are taught, the continuing professional development of staff, and the wide range of opportunities afforded our pupils in science.

Mrs Janet Watts, Deputy Head (Academic), commented, “ The award took many hours of work during the last academic year and we are all delighted that the science work in the school has been recognised nationally. It is a reflection of Farleigh’s strong science team. Mrs Victoria Rogerson, Farleigh’s Head of Science, continues the great work put in place by Ms Reynard Pearce.”
