Shakespeare Live

The spring term sprang into action when we welcomed two professional actors from The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford Upon Avon.

In a superb morning assembly, the whole school was treated to excerpts from Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet and a very amusing performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This was followed by workshops for Year 6 who have been studying Macbeth in their English lessons. These really helped the children develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of the play.

The visitors encouraged them to think about how to use their voice, movement and expression to act out scenes from the play which they performed using a ‘thrust theatre’ to ensure maximum audience participation. Shakespeare is certainly alive and kicking here at Farleigh.
