Terrific Tournaments

Hockey, netball and rugby tournaments were played in glorious sunshine yesterday afternoon, but hot off the press today: the U11A netball team have qualified for the Nationals, having come 3rd at the IAPS Regional Qualifiers at Port Regis. Congratulations, girls!

The netball tournament at Twyford yesterday proved a successful outing for both the U13B and U12B teams. They played seven round-robin matches against competitive teams from Durlston Court, Walhampton and Westbourne House, as well as the hosts, with final positions based on points scored.

The U13Bs played excellently throughout. They won all of their matches bar one, which they drew, scoring a total of 39 points meaning that they placed 1st in the tournament - gold medals all round! Their coach Miss Skillett was delighted: "An excellent display of netball and sportsmanship; the girls represented Farleigh brilliantly. Well done!" The U12Bs also enjoyed some brilliant matches, coming a very respectable 4th overall.

The U10As and U10Bs played in respective hockey tournaments at Portsmouth Grammar School. Mrs Crowhurst-Jones, who accompanied the U10Bs to Portsmouth Grammar School where they played against six other schools in the U10B tournament, reports, "It was a fantastic afternoon. The girls won all six of their matches, conceding only one goal all afternoon. The standard of their play improved with every game, culminating in a convincing win against Twyford in the final, 3-1. They should be really proud with their standard of hockey - well done girls!" The U10As also had a good afternoon, coming 3rd overall in the U10A tournament."

The U10 boys also had a great afternoon of rugby in the sunshine at Portsmouth Grammar School. Mr Ellison, Director of Sport, says, "It may have been a slow start for the As, but this was more than made up for by the way they finished; 2nd in the U10A tournament and they were thrilled with their silver medals. The U10Bs were solid from the start, playing some fabulous rugby and were well-deserved winners in their tournament. We are very proud of you all."
