Farleigh Cross Country 2024

On Monday 18th March, we held our annual Farleigh cross country meet. Fortunately, we only had one downpour before the schools arrived, and then we were blessed with perfect weather for running.

We hosted over 700 participants from 9 schools: Cheam, Dragon, Eagle House, Farleigh, Lambrook, Pilgrims’, Pinewood, Stroud and Twyford. There were two competitions over the afternoon: one for first, second and third position in each race and an overall girls' and boys' school competition. Farleigh boys and girls worked as a team to try to get the lowest score to win the overall trophy.

There was lots of individual success throughout the competition, with 7 Farleigh children winning a medal. Gigi M and Santa C won first and second for the U8 girls; Rose H won second for the U9 girls, and Raf H came third for the U9 boys; Margot P and Allegra R came first and third, respectively, for the U10 girls; The U13 girls managed to all finish in the top 10, with Honor C coming in second place. Farleigh attained overall success, with the girls' team winning the trophy for the second year running.

At the prize giving, Shinarah Le Blancq, Farleigh’s Director of Sport, praised all competitors for their tenacity, ‘With running, you get out what you put in, quite literally, and it is down to each individual’s effort. It really is mind over matter, and you could just stop running, but none of you did – you kept putting one foot in front of the other and you all got round – very well done.’

We look forward to welcoming everyone back again next year.
