House Cross Country 2024

After training over the Christmas period and preparing in their PE sessions, every child from Years 3 to 8 competed in the House Cross Country last Saturday. For the first time, the Year 8 Sports Scholars and House Captains led the warm ups, with music pumping through the PA system, and a sea of red, yellow, green and blue gearing up to lead their House to victory. With a shot from the starting pistol and cheers from spectators, the groups set off with fancy dress-clad teachers, gaps and grads also running in support. Year 8 offered an extra treat before they departed, with a quick round of the Macarena!

The competitors wove their way around the school grounds and through the woods with three course lengths of 1.08 miles for Years 3 and 4, 1.3 miles for Years 5 and 6, and 1.4 miles for Years 7 and 8, testing the resilience of all involved, before they arrived at the new finish with each and every child (and adult) cheered across the line.

Delicious soup, sausage rolls, cakes and biscuits were on hand to maintain the energy of spectators, with well-deserved hot chocolates and Oreos as a special reward for all the runners.

This truly was Farleigh at its best - everyone happy, healthy and physically active, with the amazing support of family, friends and staff which really added to the success of the event and helps make each and every pupil feel so valued.
